Red Hill Douglas County
Established in 2005, the Red Hills Douglas County AVA is a single vineyard AVA comprised entirely of volcanic soil from ancient uplifted seafloor. Vines sit between 800 and 1,200 feet and do not benefit as much from the protection of the Coast Range, resulting in cooler temperatures than other parts of the Umpqua Valley.
The Red Hills Douglas County AVA is entirely contained within the Umpqua Valley AVA. Its 460 acres are home to Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris.
